CHICAGO & SAO PAULO - Oct. 3, 2025 - PRLog -- Master musicians Omar Coleman (Chicago, USA) and Blues Music Award nominee Igor Prado (São Paulo, Brazil) have crafted six compelling originals plus five soul treasures for a dynamically "funky and blue" project. Deeply rooted in tradition yet confidently contemporary in approach, the rich musical traditions of two continents seamlessly converge throughout Old, New, Funky & Blue, their fearless and fresh collaboration.
Living Blues Most Outstanding Musician (harmonica) award winner Omar Coleman was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago. A powerhouse vocalist and harmonica player with a commanding stage presence, Coleman is one of the leading voices in modern Chicago blues with a style deeply rooted in West Side soul. He has toured internationally, bringing gritty blues authenticity with funk-driven grooves and high-energy showmanship to audiences the world over for more than 15 years, earning him a reputation as a modern torchbearer of Chicago's strong musical legacy.
Blues Music Award nominee Igor Prado is widely-regarded as one of the most exciting contemporary blues guitarists on the international scene today. The self-taught, left-handed Prado, who plays a right-handed guitar upside down, delivers scorching solos and vintage tone with an ability to move seamlessly between blues, soul, and funk. His 2015 album with Igor Prado Band, Way Down South, with the Delta Groove All Stars held the number one slot on the Living Blues Radio chart for two months, placed #6 for the year and earned a BMA nomination for Best New Artist Debut. A riveting live performer, Prado has performed at many of the top international blues venues and festivals.
"The power of music to transcend the confines of continents, cultures and more is on glorious display with this album," says Nola Blue Records president, Sallie Bengtson. "The shared goals and commitment of these two artists is surpassed only by the strength of their individual and collective musicianship. Simply put, this record smokes!"
A series of four singles will be released monthly beginning with "Moving on to Better Days" on Friday, October 17. Hear it live when Coleman and Prado perform at Eastside Kings Festival the weekend of October 18 and 19 in Austin, Texas. The remaining three singles release on November 14, December 12, January 16, 2026 and culminate with the full album release on February 6, 2026.
