T-Mobile Brings 5G-Powered ABS, New Fan Experiences to MLB All-Star Week — Backed by America’s Best Network

  • Automated Ball-Strike Challenge System, Powered by T-Mobile. The 5G-powered ABS challenge system will make its Midsummer Classic debut, joining the Futures Game — which is using ABS for the third consecutive year at All-Star Week. The ABS challenge tech infrastructure runs on a private 5G network from T-Mobile’s 5G Advanced Network Solutions (ANS) for enterprise customers.
  • T-Mobile 5G Batting Practice Show (5G BP). Fans tuning into T-Mobile 5G BP will enjoy never-before-seen angles of players warming up at Truist Park — including views from a new 360-degree drone and field-level perspectives from 5G POV cameras throughout the stadium and fan zones.
  • Enhanced 5G Connectivity for Fans and First Responders. Fans at Truist Park and across Atlanta will enjoy boosted 5G speeds — and for the first time at All-Star Week, T-Mobile will utilize dedicated network slicing to deliver mission-critical 5G to MLB’s critical operations teams, ensuring the highest priority connectivity on our network.
  • Efficient, 5G-Optimized Event Operations. T-Mobile is using 5G network slicing to power Non-Ticketed Entry via facial recognition, enhancing security and entry speed for credentialed staff. The Un-carrier is also unlocking rapid content delivery, so MLB photographers and content teams can upload and share content with fans at fastball speed.
  • T-Mobile $1M Prize Giveaway. In partnership with Fanatics, T-Mobile is giving fans a taste of the exclusive perks Un-carrier customers enjoy with Magenta Status, dishing out $1 million in Fanatics FanCash — open to fans both at the ballpark and at home.
  • Exclusive Magenta Status Fan Perks in Atlanta. T-Mobile customers can meet players and snag exclusive giveaways at Club Magenta, enjoy Home Run Derby perks like Fast-Lane stadium entry and a $25 concession voucher and score a free All-Star Week hat at local T-Mobile stores.

"For over a decade, we've partnered with MLB to help transform the game day experience — and transformation at that scale can only be achieved with a network that is up for the task,” said Mike Katz, President of Marketing, Strategy and Products, T-Mobile. “This year, we’re demonstrating the power of the T-Mobile network in a big way by delivering the first All-Star Game showcase of the 5G-powered Automated Ball-Strike system, expanding our T-Mobile 5G BP show and providing vital connectivity for both MLB’s onsite operations teams and first responders. And all of this is only possible thanks to the unmatched performance and reliability of America’s Best Network."

Automated Ball-Strike Challenge System, Powered by T-Mobile

For the first time ever, Major League Baseball’s ABS challenge system will be featured during the All-Star Game, alongside its third appearance in the All-Star Futures Game. Using a 5G private network from T-Mobile Advanced Network Solutions, pitch data is transmitted instantly via 5G-connected devices — enabling fast, secure pitch location verification and real-time communication with the ABS system as calls are challenged, pitches are analyzed and decisions are relayed to players and fans.

As America’s Best Network, T-Mobile has been deploying and expanding its industry-leading 5G coverage across the country at MLB stadiums and has rolled out private 5G networks at 28 MLB ballparks to date, with plans to be in every U.S. ballpark before the end of 2025.

The Futures Game airs live on MLB Network and will be simulcast on MLB.TV and MLB.com on Sat., July 12 at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET and the All-Star Game presented by Mastercard airs live on FOX on Tue., July 15 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.

T-Mobile 5G BP Show

Back in its fifth year, the fan-favorite T-Mobile 5G BP show returns with co-hosts Kait Maniscalco and Robert Flores, bringing fans closer to the action with all-new views as players warm up for the T-Mobile Home Run Derby. After nearly 2 million people tuned in last year, the Un-carrier is raising the bar (again) with a new 360-degree drone delivering unique aerial views of the park as players go yard during BP. Fans will also get to experience what people are seeing throughout Truist Park — as if they were there — thanks to T-Mobile 5G cameras capturing shots around the park and in The Battery fan area near Truist Park, which includes T-Mobile’s Club Magenta.

The Un-carrier’s 5G network is also powering the real-time remote production of the live show using a network slice to transmit large amounts of data from Atlanta to the MLB Network studio in New York.

Tune in live at 3:30 p.m. PT / 6:30 p.m. ET on Mon., July 14 on MLB.com, and MLB’s social channels on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and X.

Enhanced 5G Connectivity for Fans and First Responders

Fans at MLB All-Star Week in Atlanta — and across the city — will experience faster wireless speeds on our network thanks to permanent 5G upgrades, including Ultra Capacity 5G throughout Truist Park. Making its MLB debut, T-Mobile’s T-Priority will also deliver prioritized, mission-critical 5G connectivity for MLB’s critical operations teams and first responders. Built on T-Mobile’s 5G Standalone network and powered by network slicing, T-Priority allocates up to five times more network resources to ensure reliable communication, even during peak congestion.

Efficient, 5G-Optimized Event Operations

T-Mobile’s 5G network isn’t just powering the fan experience — it’s also enhancing behind-the-scenes operations. In partnership with MLB, T-Mobile is leveraging network slicing to power Non-Ticketed Entry facial recognition technology, providing operational staff with frictionless stadium entry and improving speed and security for back-of-house operations. MLB photographers will also utilize network slicing to quickly transfer photos over T-Mobile's 5G network, eliminating hard-wired connections and accelerating image delivery to clients and fans.
