Dennis Farrah Calls for Greater Community Support: "Helping My Fellow Man Has Always Been My Goal"

The retired financial planner and Vietnam veteran urges individuals to give back through local food pantries and community programs.

FISHERS, IN / ACCESS Newswire / August 28, 2025 / Dennis Farrah, a Vietnam veteran and retired financial planner with over 40 years of experience in accounting and tax planning, is using his story to shine a light on an issue close to his heart: supporting local communities.

"Helping my fellow man has always been my goal," Farrah said. "Numbers are important, but what matters most is how you use them to help people."

Farrah, who grew up in a poor family in Boston before serving in the U.S. Army and later building a successful financial planning business, has dedicated much of his retirement to giving back. He is active in the Fishers, Indiana Democratic Party and donates regularly to food pantries and St. Jude's Hospital.

The Urgent Need for Community Action

Food insecurity continues to affect millions of Americans. According to Feeding America, over 44 million people in the United States-including 13 million children-live in food-insecure households. Local food pantries are often the first line of defense, yet they frequently struggle to meet demand.

"It doesn't take much to make a difference," Farrah explained. "A small donation of food or money can help a family eat dinner tonight. Volunteering your time at a local pantry means someone else doesn't go hungry."

Farrah's call comes at a time when inflation and economic uncertainty are straining many households. Data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows that food insecurity rose sharply in 2022, with households with children particularly affected.

A Lifetime of Service and Integrity

Farrah's advocacy builds on a lifetime of service. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Army in 1972, he went on to earn two degrees-mathematics and finance-from Roger Williams University. He later founded and ran a respected tax and retirement planning firm for four decades before retiring in 2017.

Reflecting on his journey, he said: "Being a good person and raising a good family means more to me than any business success."

Call to Action

Farrah encourages people everywhere to look within their own communities for ways to help.

"Start small," he advises. "Bring canned goods to a food drive. Donate a little each month to a charity you trust. Show up for your neighbors. These simple acts can ripple through a community."

He emphasizes that supporting local initiatives is not only impactful but deeply rewarding. "I've been blessed in my life. Giving back is part of who I am-and it's something anyone can do."
